Alycia and Kudu Welcome to Trakehners Australia, breed registry for Trakehner horses in Australia.Trakehners Australia was started from a group of breeders that wanted to raise the profile of our breed in Australia and preserve the bloodlines that existed from imported horses over the past 30 years. The first Trakehner was imported in 1972, her name was Ariadne. The Association aims to encourage and promote the breeding, improvement, exhibition and participation in competition of Trakehner horses. The Trakehner Verband are the keepers of the parent stud book of the Trakehner horse world wide. An exciting development is that Trakehners Australia has recently entered into an understanding with the Trakehner Verband to allow Australian Trakehners to be entered into the parent stud book. It has taken many years to achieve this important step. It is intended that the Trakehner Verband will come to Australia annually to inspection foals and to classify mares and stallions. The development program will also include training programs for the presentation and showing of horses for classification. Trakehners Australia will also maintain a partbred Trakehner studbook. The objectives of Trakehners Australia are: · To raise the profile of the Australian Trakehner nationally and internationally; · To promote the Trakehner horse as a fantastic competition horse, and a terrific general riding horse; · To educate and assist breeders where possible, in order to bring our breeding standards to a standard consistent with the Europeans; · To ensure that registered are considered suitable for sports such as dressage, show jumping, eventing and driving; · That these same registered horses are performance horses showing: quality; correct conformation; correct movement with impulsion, balance and cadence; a suitable character with willing temperament; jumping ability, style and technique in accordance with the guidelines set out by the Trakehner Verband in Germany.
